Iran Slams Trump’s Warning to Supreme Leader: Tensions Escalate Again
In a fresh wave of diplomatic confrontation, Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has issued a strong condemnation of U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent warning directed at Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The incident, which unfolded on June 27, 2025, marks another sharp escalation in the already tense relationship between Washington and Tehran.
President Trump’s statement, made during a press conference, urged Ayatollah Khamenei to "align with the world order" or face "severe consequences" — a phrase interpreted as a direct threat of intensified economic sanctions and potential military action. Trump specifically demanded that Iran:
Cease support for regional proxy groups such as Hezbollah. Respect international peace norms. The statement came in the wake of Iran’s recent ballistic missile tests and continuing global concerns regarding the country's nuclear program.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi swiftly responded, calling Trump’s remarks "reckless and inflammatory". He accused the U.S. of:
Undermining diplomatic efforts & Provoking unnecessary conflict . Violating principles of sovereignty and international law.
Araghchi emphasized that such statements “only serve to escalate tensions and push the region toward instability.” He reiterated that Iran will not yield to external pressure, stating that Tehran remains committed to national sovereignty and regional security.
As of now, there has been no official response from Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. However, Iran’s Foreign Ministry released a statement reaffirming the Supreme Leader’s stance on resisting foreign interference and defending Iran’s sovereign rights.
